Washington's Governor Signs Gay Marriage Into Law

Washington's Governor Signs Gay Marriage Into Law

Washington's Gov. Chris Gregoire signed a gay marriage bill into law at a ceremony Monday, meaning same-sex couples will likely be able to get married there beginning June 7. "We're here to make history," she said at a signing event. Washington will now be the seventh state to have legalized gay marriage. Passage has been pretty smooth since the bill was introduced this month, and it has also yielded some rallying moments for the gay community, such as this video, which went viral, of State Rep. Maureen Walsh describing her emotional decision to vote in favor of the bill. Gregoire signed the bill to cheers and chants of "Chris, Chris, Chris!" (No not you, Chris Christie.)

Look out, righties, I'm on page 233 of the Gay Agenda. I'm learning how to turn your children gay just by telling them that gay people exist!

It is amazing how every time they go looking for evidence to support their doomsday prophecies of the evils resulting from gay marriage, they come up empty.

Yee Haw, another domino falls! Congratulations Washington, and congratulations America! Another feather in the hat of the Constitution and the erosion of inequality.
      • sickofitinca 3 mths ago
I have no problem with gay people getting married, but I am interested in what part of the Constitution that says that ANYONE has the right to marry. I can save you some time, there is no reference to it anywhere. It is covered by the 10th amendment where it says that it si something left to the states or to the people. If a state decides to legalize gay marriage, good for them it is part of the legitimate right of the state to do that.

@Jim -- "Look out, righties, I'm on page 233 of the Gay Agenda. I'm learning how to turn your children gay just by telling them that gay people exist!"

In Massachusetts, schools are not required to notify parents when homosexual-related subjects are taught, and parents cannot opt their children out of such presentations.

Congratulations WA , we have already spend way to much time on this non issue as a nation!
      • Terrence Bass 3 mths ago
gays would like this to be a non issue.
remember how California spent millions shooting it down?

      • TERRY 3 mths ago
no its big #$%$ up for WA you weak and deranged perverts. Yea, washington is the gay state. You are wasting your time, people will never accept your pedophile lifestyle.
      • dr oblivious 3 mths ago
Terry, I'm straight. Just believe in freedom for all because I'm an American. The only homosexual pedophiles I know about are Catholic.

I'm willing to bet $100 to all you gay people & supporters of gay marriage that the U.S. Supreme Court will side with us Prop. 8 supporters (meaning the normal people).
    • ThomasL  •  San Diego, California  •  3 mths ago
It's never been about "equality" it's about gays trying to shove their agenda onto those of us who oppose it & force us to recognize their sick perverted lifestyle. the ONLY reason why these gay people & their allies are crying "equality" is so that normal people would be sympathetic to their cause.

YAY Washington!!!!!! You conservatards can keep trying to stop the march of equality, but we'll keep using the American principles of fairness, logic and reason to progress!

The actaul essay question from the March 2007 Massachusetts State Bar Exam:

"Mary and Jane, both attorneys, were married two years ago. The day before their
marriage, Mary and Jane each fully disclosed their assets to the other, and
signed an antenuptial agreement (the "Agreement") in which each of them agreed
that if they were ever divorced (i) they would divide any joint marital property
evenly, (ii) they would not seek or accept any property that the other brought
into the marriage, and (iii) they would not seek or accept child support or
alimony from the other. The Agreement was drafted and reviewed by an attorney
representing Jane. Mary did not hire an attorney to review the Agreement as she
'trusted Jane'. At the time of the marriage Jane had a two year old adopted child,
Philip, and Mary was three months pregnant. When Mary gave birth in Boston six
months later to Charles, Mary and Jane were listed on his birth certificate as his
parents. Mary has treated and referred to Philip as her son, although she did not
adopt him. Mary, Jane, Philip, and Charles lived in a house in Boston owned by
both Mary and Jane. The down payment for this house came only from Mary. Jan
was the sole supporter of the family, while Mary stayed at home taking care of Philip
and Charles. Mary had no savings, while Jane had over a million dollars in savings
from an inheritance that she received when her mother died three years ago.
Yesterday Jane got drunk and hit Mary with a baseball bat, breaking Mary's leg,
when she learned that Mary was having an affair with Lisa. As a result, Mary
decided to end her marriage with Jane in order to live in her house with Philip,
Charles, and Lisa. What are the rights of Mary and Jane?"

Not exactly a ringing endorsement of same-sex wedded bliss, is it?

Ever closer to a more perfect union. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for ALL....not just some and not just sometimes.
    • bradito  •  Los Angeles, California  •  3 mths ago
43 states still have some catching up to do when it comes to "liberty and justice for all."
    • sickofitinca  •  3 mths ago
What's the big deal? A bunch of politicians get together and decide that same sex couples can marry. Those marriages will have many of the same problems that straight marriages have, and probably more. They can suffer the same income tax unfairness as the rest of the married folks in the country. Maybe they can take on that problem as their next objective to make things "fair".

Why should kids be required to to atten homosexual-related subjects in school?
I for one do not think that kids should be exposed to such trash, not in schools anyway.
If you want to be gay, good for you, but keep you trash life style in your own back yard and not in schools!!

Congratulations Washington State! And for anybody who isn't gay or lesbian or who doesn't manage a benefits plan that treats married people better than single people, absolutely nothing will change.

My gay acquaintances are better adjusted psychologically than many of my straight acquaintances. Self-acceptance, most likely.

The Gay Plague is consuming America.
    • Jon Liebowitz  •  3 mths ago
Gay marriage supporters constantly beg the question about "equality," stating that no one should be able to vote on another's "civil rights." What "civil rights?" No federal court, other than #$%$ Vaughn Walker, has found a civil right to same-sex marriage. Same with polygamy.

That is because she is Gay. People with no morals, they need to keep the bedroom stuff in the bedroom.
