Cute Alert: Watch Canada’s PM Cuddle The Country’s First Panda Cubs

One of the perks of being Prime Minister of Canada is getting to cuddle the country’s first baby pandas, it turns out.

The two giant panda cubs, the first to be born in Canada, were given their names at a ceremony on Monday at Toronto Zoo.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was there to see the male cub named Jia Panpan, which means Candian Hope, and the female named Jia Yueyue which translates as Canadian Joy. The names were chosen by a public vote.

After the ceremony, Trudeau was given the chance to have a quick cuddle with the Hope and Joy - “I can assure you that my children are very jealous that I just got to hold the pandas as well,” he said in a speech. They’re not the only ones.

The cubs also make their public debut this weekend so if you find yourself in Toronto this Saturday, you know what to do.

Unfortunately, unless you are the prime minister, you won’t get to pick them up and hold them.
