Watch Conan O'Brien Have a Serious Conversation with Cookie Monster Fan Nate Silver

Saturday mornings are sluggish and awful and you're just going to sleep in today anyway, so why not start your day with a serious conversation between Conan O'Brien and noted Cookie Monster fan, and occasional analytic genius, Nate Silver.

Silver is still doing an aggressive press tour for his book, The Signal and the Noise, and his latest stop is Conan's 'Serious Jibber-Jabber' series. But don't think for a second that the comedian is intellectually outmatched here. O'Brien is a Harvard grad and a history buff with a great memory for American elections that's put well on display here, especially when he asks Silver is his FiveThirtyEight work is "taking the fun out of" elections. O'Brien asks if Silver would have been able to predict the 1980 election, and the two have a spirited discussion about the different aspects that went into that result.

Later, Silver advocates the Republican party is going to need to, "shift to the center a little bit," on things like immigration, the gays, and weed. "That’s what a rational political party would do."

And that's when Conan finally makes a joke about Silver's sartorial choice.
