Watch This Man Struggle to Stay Awake During a Joe Biden Speech

A man seated on stage behind Vice President Joe Biden during a speech Friday appeared to have a bit of a difficult time staying awake. The ironic part? A line in Biden's speech reportedly contained the phrase "Americans are tired of being tired."

Video of the speech at North Carolina's Davidson County Community College shows a man over the vice president's shoulder close his eyes then seem to struggle to open them again. His face twitches and he tips forward slightly before shifting positions and rubbing his eyes in an effort to stay engaged. WXII-TV on Biden's address, which focused on the importance of community colleges:

"We have pride in our great state universities, but we feel like a part of our community colleges," the vice president said. "Community colleges are part of the fabric of our communities." President Barack Obama's fiscal year 2013 budget proposal includes a new $8-billion Community to Career fund to forge partnerships between community colleges and businesses to provide training for workers. "Americans are tired of being tired," Joe Biden said. "It's clear that the American people have decided it's time to get up. They're tired of being told that we're in a long, slow drift."
