ABC's musical drama Nashville joins this fall's shows that are debuting online ahead of their TV premieres.

You can watch the pilot, which airs Oct. 10 at 10 p.m. ET on television, now on Hulu, ABC.com and the ABC Player app for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. You also can download the episode for free on iTunes.

Nashville stars Connie Britton as aging country star Rayna and Hayden Panettiere as Juliette, the music charts' latest crossover sensation and Rayna's sassy country rival. The pilot opens with a montage of Nashville scenes set to Eli Young Band's "Even If It Breaks Your Heart." Watch the pilot right now in this Hulu embed:

"With the title of Nashville it also helped to dismiss any perception of what people thought the show was and let them know exactly the drama that it is," Marla Provencio, EVP and CMO at ABC Entertainment Network, says.

The digital-first strategy is a trend this TV season as networks look to draw early buzz for shows before they hit the traditional small screen.

Last week, Fox posted the first-ever full TV episode on Twitter -- the season three premiere of Raising Hope. The CW did the same for medical drama Emily Owens, M.D., offering the pilot on Twitter as well as on Facebook, YouTube, Hulu, CWTV.com, iTunes and the network’s app.

Fox first tried the tactic with the now Emmy-nominated New Girl in 2011 and repeated it this season with new comedies The Mindy Project and Ben and Kate.

"Tour," ABC's interactive experience for Nashville fans, also allows people to learn more about the characters, discover its social outlets in creative ways, listen to music, explore venues from the show and enter contests.
