Watch Nearly 3 Minutes of Marvel's Agent Carter, Featuring Lots of... Talking? (VIDEO)

Marvel will not rest until it's shoved its entire catalog down your throat in the form of television series, movies, and branded lunch boxes, and the next character to make the leap to the small screen is Agent Carter, in the appropriately and corporately titled Marvel's Agent Carter. The eight-episode "television event" will debut on Tuesday, January 6 at 9pm, taking over the timeslot typically reserved for Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. while S.H.I.E.L.D. takes a short winter break.

Set in 1946, Agent Carter is all about Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), a woman who works for a precursor of S.H.I.E.L.D., the Strategic Scientific Reserve, and secretly assists Howard Stark, the father of Tony Stark/Iron Man. If you're the moviegoing type, you'll know her from the Captain America films; basically, if there were a SAT question about Marvel's live-action TV tie-ins, the answer would be Agent Carter : the Captain America franchise :: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. : The Avengers franchise.

Up until today, we hadn't seen much footage from the upcoming series save for a brief, questionably taglined tease, but that's all changed, thanks to the following extended clip. Here's nearly three minutes of Peggy in action:

That was Agent Carter talking shop on the docks with Howard Stark, and it was also your first look at Stark family butler Edwin Jarvis. But if I'm being honest, it was a little too slow to get me excited for the show. What did you think?
