What to Watch Tonight: Arrow and The 100 Return, and AHS: Freak Show Takes a Bow

What to watch on Wednesday, January 21...

WINTER PREMIERE, 8pm, The CW
Arrow
In "Left Behind," Team Arrow has its hands full trying to defend Starling City, because Oliver sure is taking his sweet time getting back from Ninja Assassin Central. Like geez Ollie, what's the hold-up, did you fall of a cliff or someth... uh... never mind. With the Emerald Archer off the grid, Laurel assumes full-fledged Black Canary mode, while Ray tests out his A.T.O.M. gear.

8pm, CBS
The Mentalist
Lisbon and the team must safeguard a key witness who's being targeted by a trained assassin in "The Whites of His Eyes." This gives Jane no shortage of anxiety, as anyone who's ever played one of those awful "protect so-and-so" missions in a video game can surely understand.

8pm, ABC Family
Melissa & Joey
Dani manipulates Mel into circumventing Joe's dating ban in "The Day After." In other covert youth romances, Lennox and Marco's secret comes out after they bump into Zander.

8:30pm, ABC Family
Baby Daddy
Riley has doubts about her future with Ben, which are only exacerbated by the oracular wisdom of a bar psychic. Elsewhere in "I See Crazy People," Danny lays low at Brad's place while Tucker aims to oust Bonnie from his apartment.

WINTER PREMIERE, 9pm, The CW
The 100
Clarke, Lexa, and Indra come to an agreement in "Remember Me," but it's not long before new threats emerge. Meanwhile, Monty has a plan that's so crazy it just might work (or might blow up in his face; it's a coin flip, really).

9pm, NBC
Law & Order: SVU
Amaro's father (Armand Assante) is getting married in "Padre Sandunguera." Everything goes just ducky... except for the fisticuffs that break out, leading to the groom's arrest and forcing Amaro into an agonizing spot when he's tabbed as a witness. But hey, the bouquet was dazzling.

9pm, Fox
Empire
The Lyons are going to Philadelphia! There, they catch a glimpse of what life might've been like had Lucious followed an ordinary, non-mogul-y path. Meanwhile in "The Devil Quotes Scripture," a woman (Naomi Campbell) sets her amorous sights on Hakeem, complicating Lucious's efforts to promote the Hakeem-Tianna relationship.

NEW TIME, 9pm, Bravo
Top Chef
"The Final Battle of Bean Town" charges the chefs with preparing, you guessed it, a bean dish in the Quickfire. Then the winner of the Elimination Challenge will earn a ticket to the finale in Mexico.

SERIES PREMIERE, 10pm, Bravo
Best New Restaurant
From the "Everybody loves the Restaurant Wars episodes of Top Chef, why don't we make a whole show out of that?" files: Tom Colicchio hosts this new competition series that compares and contrasts new eateries. In the opener, two Italian restaurants square off in three challenges.

SEASON 4 FINALE, 10pm, FX
American Horror Story: Freak Show
The freaks rebel against the management in "Curtain Call," and I'm sure they'll voice their concerns through an orderly demonstration and a carefully thought-out, itemized list of demands. In other climactic moments, Dandy readies to make his big debut.

10pm, BET
The Game
When Perez Hilton makes merry sport of Chardonnay's wedding catastrophe on national television, the jilted bride visits his show to defend her dignity in "The Pittsy Shuffle: Why Pitts Really Dipped." Off the air, Jason opens up to Chardonnay about what exactly went wrong.

10pm, VH1
Hindsight
"I Never..." finds Becca flummoxed by her liplock with Andy (no relation), while Lolly tries to duck Jamie and the ladies celebrate Lois's birthday.

10pm, NBC
Chicago P.D.
Ruzek's father Bob (Jack Coleman) is first on the scene of a double murder in "Disco Bob." (We can only hope that title means this episode is setting up a spin-off where Jack Coleman solves crimes through the power of disco grooviness.) Elsewhere, Lindsay gears up for an undercover assignment in Bolivia, while Burgess and Roman vow to let bygones be bygones.

10pm, Comedy Central
Workaholics
"Front Yard Wrestling" sees the guys staging a wrestling show on public access to scrape up rent money, in what's surely a Harvard Business School case study just waiting to happen.

10pm, FXX
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
"The Gang Group Dates" sees the gang turning to online dating to find love, in what's surely an eHarmony commercial just waiting to happen.

10:30pm, FXX
Man Seeking Woman
In "Traib," Josh turns to his friends for help communicating with Laura. Like any good friends, they advise him to send her three poop-face emojis followed by the fireworks emoji, a winky-face, and an interrobang.

10:30pm, Comedy Central
Broad City
Fortune smiles upon the ladies' careers in "Mochalatta Chills." While Abbi finally gets her chance to train someone at Soulstice, Ilana wields newfound corporate power like a boss.
