'Water by the Spoonful' to land in New York

NEW YORK (AP) — Quiara Alegria Hudes's Pulitzer Prize-winning play "Water by the Spoonful," about an Iraq war veteran struggling to find his place in the world, will land in New York in December.

Off-Broadway's Second Stage Theatre said Wednesday it will produce the work as part of its next season, which also includes the satire "Modern Terrorism, Or They Who Want to Kill Us and How We Learn to Love Them" by Jon Kern.

After winning the Pulitzer, Hudes expressed hope that her play would make it to New York after its debut last fall at Hartford Stage Company in Connecticut.

It's the second of a trilogy that began with "Elliot, A Soldier's Fugue" and ends with "The Happiest Song Plays Last," making its world premiere next year in Chicago.
