The web's growing Pinterest 'obsession': By the numbers

The social sharing destination has crossed the 10 million unique visitor threshold faster than any other indepedent website — and shows no signs of slowing down

Tumblr who? Social sharing service Pinterest — once dubbed the web's "hottest new social startup" — is now a bonafide online destination. The site allows users to showcase online discoveries by "pinning" art, photographs, fashion finds, recipes, and more onto a virtual pin-board for users to share with friends. (Read an explainer on how Pinterest works here.) Now the site is growing at an unprecedented rate, with powerhouses like Etsy, Real Simple, and yes, The Week already onboard. With a "stunningly feminine fan base," Pinterest makes no qualms about aggressively pursuing an attractive market segment with unrivaled purchasing, says Josh Constine at TechCrunch. Why are you taking a feminism class?
      • mike 3 mths ago
Well you see, Jason, there's this place called "college". At "college", they make you take a wide range of courses for edification purposes, and sometimes women's studies will fall within that range. We can't all be uneducated mongrels (says the guy with a tasteless Billy Mays avatar).

The real question here is ; do you have the time to see all that is available and still live life in the present tense..? How much living do you miss by spending most of your time in the ether? How could we possibly have lived before computers, face book, my space ,shopping sites, ebay , utube, pandora or all the rest?Quite well actually.

When you spend more time an energy maintaining the device than it returns to you then what good is it? You don't own it,,it owns you.
