Well-known chef killed in Guatemala

GUATEMALA CITY (AP) — Authorities in Guatemala say well-known chef Humberto Dominguez has been found dead with a gunshot the head.

Dominguez specialized in recipes inspired by Maya and pre-Hispanic food and he had been named an ambassador of Guatemalan gastronomy by the country's National Tourism Institute.

The spokesman for the country's municipal firefighters' network said Tuesday that Dominguez's blindfolded body had been found earlier in the day in Villa Canales, just south of Guatemala City.

Spokesman Cecilio Chacaj said the body had been dumped beside a roadway. The motive for the killing is unclear.

Dominguez ran the Kacao restaurant and hosted a television cooking show.
