Overpass collapses in Kolkota: At least 18 people are dead when the structure, which has been under construction since 2009, collapsed near Girish Park, one of the Indian city’s most densely populated neighborhoods. K. Panduranga Rao, a senior official of the IVRCL group, the firm that is building the overpass, called it “nothing but God’s act.” The company is cooperating with investigators who are looking into what caused the structure to collapse.
