    Whitney Houston Honored At Clive Davis' Pre-Grammy Party

    The tragic and sudden death of Whitney Houston on Saturday was at the forefront of everyone's mind on Saturday night at The Recording Academy and Clive Davis' pre-Grammy gala, which the late singer was supposed to attend.

    Music mogul Clive Davis began the evening remembering Houston.

    "I am personally devastated by the loss of someone who has meant so much to me for so many years. Whitney was so full of life. She was so looking forward to tonight even though she wasn't scheduled to perform. She loved music and she loved this night that celebrates music," Davis -- who was Houston's longtime mentor -- told the crowd.

    Davis took time to mention Houston's 18-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina, who the singer had with ex-husband Bobby Brown.

    "My heart goes out to her daughter Bobbi Kristina, to her mother Cissy, to all of her relatives and to so many of you here tonight, her extended family who loved and cherished her and her spirit. Whitney was a beautiful person and a talent beyond compare. She graced this stage with her regal presence and gave so many memorable performances here over the years," Davis continued. "Simply put, Whitney would have wanted the music to go on and her family asked that we carry on."

    He then asked the crowd to pause and remember the late singer.

    "I ask that you join me in a moment of silence as we dedicate this evening to Whitney," he added.

    Tony Bennett then took the stage and performed, "How Do You Keep the Music Playing?" followed by Alicia Keys, who performed and dedicated part of "No One" to Houston.

      Not surprising to me at all. Another washed up celeb who gave her life for drugs. Wow and I suppose a hero and role model to so many single mothers and their daughters.

        So I guess what you're saying is that you're a life guru? What do you consider washed up? I really hope for your sake the you posting something with the only purpose was to bring attention to yourself that you feel better about yourself. Your opinion is worthless. This woman means so much to so many people across the world. She has touched so many lives for the better. #$%$ have you done? How many lives have "you" touched? Its not just you, most of the people that leave comments are stupid. You just happened to be the first one that I read. That being said, you had to be the one to get it. I'm not even gonna attempt to read anyone because you and probably 50% of the other comments here share your same hateful, insecure purpose and I'm not going to let myself become any more upset than I already am! Its not about you or any of the other people that are haters. Right now is about the sudden and tragic passing of a icon, now a legend. R.I.P Ms. Whitney, you are and will forever be missed and remembered.

      She killed herself with her drugs. It was a selfish act considering she had a child to care for. Did this child mean nothing to her that she has to indulge in such a deadly habit. I am very angry at people who do drugs and lead others into the same situation. I have a young niece whos brain is totally fried because of it. She has to live in an institution and is a vegetable and totally useless. My sisters heart is broken because of it. Stop taking drugs!!!

      MY GOODNESS i heard of her passing last night on the news! WHAT a shame. I PRAY her daughter will go on to be a good singer and not into drugs! LOOK what happened to soon to WHITNEY DEEPEST sympathy to the family,with love and prayers
