Will Smith Is Planning A Career In Politics
Will Smith has revealed that he’s planning his next career move, and it’ll be into politics.
Following the likes of Ronald Reagan, Clint Eastwood, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jesse ‘The Body’ Ventura, the 'Men In Black’ star described himself as 'a climber’.
Speaking on The Hollywood Reporter’s 'Awards Chatter’ podcast, Smith revealed his plans to convert his notoriety towards public office.
“I’m elevating my ability to be useful in the world,” he said.
“I think that that’s what my grandmother always hoped, that I would make myself useful to people in this lifetime.
“I’m working really hard and my storytelling is elevating, my ability to be eloquent with my body and with my voice and to deliver ideas as an actor is elevating.
“And, you know, as I look at the political landscape, I think that there might be a future out there for me.”
He added that he has been driven by anger at what he sees going on around him in the world.
“This is the first year that I’ve been incensed to a level that I can’t sleep, you know?” Smith went on.
“So I’m feeling that at some point, in the near future, I will have to lend my voice to the conversation in a somewhat different way.”
Most successful of all former actors-turned-politicians was Ronald Reagan, who served as the 40th president of the USA from 1981 to 1989, having been begun his acting career in 1937.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, meanwhile, served as the 38th governor of California from 2003 to 2011.
Smith is potentially set to enter the Oscar race this year, with his role in the forthcoming ‘Concussion’, taking on the scandal of head trauma in the NFL.
