Detroit boasts a large selection of restaurants that represent all cultures and nationalities. If you are looking for Mexican food, Detroit has it; if you are looking for soul food, Detroit has it, and if you are looking for Southern-style food, the city has that, too. Below are some restaurants that are sure to meet your dining needs.
Slows Bar BQ
Co-owners Brian Perrone, Phillip Cooley and Dean St. Souver have taken an old building located at 2338 Michigan Ave. in downtown Detroit and turned it into a beautiful restaurant. It is very spacious with high ceilings.
Slows specialize in barbeque, serving ribs, chicken, brisket and pulled pork, and they have a sauce to meet every palate. Slows also has food for the vegetarian, and their mac n cheese is the best to pair with a large variety of wines and beers. Their patrons come from downtown Detroit to the suburbs. Slows also cater parties, and special events. The price range is from $8.95 to $24.95. They are open every day: Sunday and Monday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to midnight.
City Wings
City Wings owner Grant Lancaster opened this restaurant in 2010. City Wings offers a large variety of wings -- Cajun, teriyaki, honey mustard, curry and teri que. They also offer mild, medium, hot and KO buffalo flavors. City Wings use only Amish Wings. If you like wings, I highly recommend City Wings.
City Wings also have a variety of sides. The potato salad is awesome; they are made with redskin potatoes and spiced just right. The green beans are also good, cooked with turkey meat. For dessert they have sweet potato pie that is just right. The atmosphere is very pleasant and the staff is friendly. The price range of the wings cost $6.99 for a snack to $35.00 for 60 wings. The hours are Monday through Thursday and Saturday; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday until 8 p.m.
It is located at 2896 W. Grand Blvd in the New Center area in Detroit, Mich.
