Wisconsin DWD: State unemployment rate unchanged in March

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- New figures show Wisconsin's unemployment rate didn't budge last month.

Estimates the state Department of Workforce Development released Thursday show the state's unemployment rate was 7.1 percent in March, unchanged from February. The national unemployment rate was 7.6 percent in March.

DWD's data shows a net loss of 1,100 private sector jobs in the state last month. The state also lost 7,400 government jobs in March, including 6,800 on the state and local levels.

The monthly numbers are based on a survey of only 3.5 percent of state employers and are subject to significant revision.
