Wisconsin Women in Conservation holds event in Chippewa Falls

CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – One group in Wisconsin is aiming to get more women into helping preserve the Earth. Wisconsin Women in Conservation held a Learning Circle at Kamp Kenwood near Chippewa Falls this afternoon (5/8/24). Over 30 women landowners, farmers and local conservation experts got together to learn from each other about how to take care of bodies of water, as well as pollinators.

The goal of the event is to help bring people interested in conservation together. Wisconsin Women in Conservation Regional Coordinator, Allison Crook, says, “A huge part of it is building community and networking, getting to know who the land owners are in the area, who the conservation professionals are and for them to get to connected to one another so that going to that USDA office and asking for support doesn’t feel as daunting, that there are people, we see each other’s faces, we know each other’s names and we’re able to build those connections.”

While Wisconsin Women in Conservation has been around for many years, today was the start of a new tri-county program for the organization. It covers Eau Claire, Chippewa and Clark counties.
