WNS 3rd-quarter profit doubles as company adds new customers

NEWS: Indian outsourcing company WNS Holdings Ltd. said Wednesday that its fiscal third-quarter net income doubled as revenue improved and it added new customers.

DETAILS: WNS said it added 4 new clients in the period.

NUMBERS: For the three months ended Dec. 31, WNS earned $12.2 million, or 23 cents per share. That compares with $6.1 million, or 12 cents per share, a year earlier.

Stripping out stock-based compensation expense and other items, earnings were 38 cents per share.

Revenue increased 6 percent to $127.1 million from $120.2 million.

Analysts polled by FactSet expected earnings of 36 cents per share on revenue of $120.1 million.

FUTURE: WNS now anticipates fiscal 2014 adjusted net income between $70 million and $72 million on revenue less repair payments in a range of $470 million to $472 million. Its prior guidance was for adjusted net income of $59 million to $63 million, with revenue less repair payments between $460 and $480 million.

STOCK: Shares of WNS closed at $21.10 on Tuesday. Its shares have risen almost 86 percent over the past year.
