Woman, 21, killed when her car strikes tree, catches fire in Palm Coast, FHP reports

A 21-year-old Palm Coast woman was killed Monday when her car went off the road, struck a tree and caught fire, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The woman was traveling south on Old Kings Road about a mile and a half north of Town Center Boulevard at about 12:14 am. when the vehicle traveled out of the southbound lane, across the northbound lane and struck a tree, FHP stated. The vehicle then became fully engulfed in flames.

The Flagler County Fire Department extinguished the fire. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

It was unknown if she was wearing a seatbelt, the release from FHP stated.

The investigation is pending.
