Woman hospitalized after her SUV rolls over in Milford bank parking lot

MILFORD A woman suffered injuries to her knee after a rollover crash Monday in the parking lot of a South Main Street bank, authorities said.

The woman, whom police did not identify, was taken to Milford Regional Medical Center after the 10:02 a.m. crash at Rockland Trust, 146 South Main St., according to Deputy Police Chief Robert Tusino.

"We don't really know if it was operator error or a medical incident," he said.

The woman, who was driving a small SUV, had just gone through the drive-thru but as she turned out of her lane, witnesses said the vehicle suddenly accelerated. The SUV then crashed into stone pylons in front of the building, which are designed to stop a vehicle from driving into the lobby.

"Her car just caught the pylon in just the right way and it rolled over," Tusino said.

First responders from the Police and Fire departments had to remove one of the vehicle's windows to get the woman out. The driver complained of knee pain and was then taken to the hospital.
