    World’s First Novel in Tweeted Format Due for Release This Spring

    Naughty By Nature, the debut book by British author Paul Parry, is set to become the world’s first novel entirely made up of Tweets when it is released in May.

    Naughty By Nature, the debut book by British author Paul Parry, is set to become the world’s first novel entirely made up of Tweets when it is released in May.

    The Londoner, who wrote Naughty By Nature over a two-year period at the beginning of the century, began Tweeting it in the summer of 2010.

    “I’d written this book and tried to get it published the traditional way – looking for an agent and sending it off here, there and everywhere – but had no success,” says Parry, 39.

    “I then put it on Lulu.com but never really promoted it probably because, deep down, I knew it needed more work. Then a couple of years ago, I had a decision to make – forget about it or make the best of it I possibly could. And here I am!”

    While a handful of authors have already Tweeted their books, it appears that Parry is the first to release a novel is this format.

    Originally comprising 81,000 words and expected to come in at around 2,750 Tweets when it’s completed, Naughty By Nature, according to its author, is based on “lots of things – some funny, some not – that are autobiographical or friends’ antics”.

    He explains: “I’ve been very lucky. I’ve grown up with this group of really funny, great lads who are like brothers to me. And I seem to have added to them along the way! They’ve always been really funny and I just thought that some of the things they’ve said or done needed recording.”

    The father-of-two says he is “fully committed” to making his book a success, having hired a designer to create a new cover image and taken delivery of t-shirts and publicity cards featuring the ‘#NbyN’ hashtag and a QR code which, when scanned, takes people to a web page where they can download the first 500 Tweets free of charge. And, of course, Parry is making full use of all the leading social networking sites.

    Naughty By Nature will be available in Tweeted format for all the major ereaders as well as in print. A full, traditional version of the book will be available later this year.

    And, as self-published content now comprises about a quarter of all ebook fiction sales, it would appear the time is right for Naughty By Nature, the Tweeted novel.
