    WRIS Web Services Honored with Weatherhead 100 Award

    When the 2011 Weatherhead 100 Awards are handed out on December 1, 2011, WRIS Web Services, a Cleveland-based web design and development firm, will be among the recipients. This recognition positions WRIS as one of Northeast Ohio’s 100 fastest-growing companies.

    WRIS Web Services, a full spectrum provider of comprehensive web services and web-related products, has just received word that it has won a Weatherhead 100 Award. The awards ceremony, which honors the 100 fastest-growing businesses in Northeast Ohio, will take place on December 1, 2011. The occasion will mark the second consecutive year WRIS has been recognized by the Weatherhead panel of judges.    

    Earlier this month, Cleveland.com ran an article highlighting how Northeast Ohio is finding its way out of the Great Recession more quickly than the rest of the state and the country. Therein, it cited these facts: “Employment in the 18-county region grew by 1.5 percent in the past year as the economy added nearly 30,000 jobs …. Meanwhile, the regional unemployment rate fell to 8.5 percent.” Indeed, a study conducted by the economic development agency Team NEO found that “the [Northeast Ohio] region has added 40,000 jobs since the depths of the recession in 2009.” “The Morning Journal” further added that Northern Ohio was expected to outpace the U.S. in business growth.

    It is growing businesses like WRIS Web Services that are helping to put the greater Cleveland area ahead of the pack in terms of economic stability. And the Weatherhead 100 Awards were designed to recognize precisely such companies. Since 1987, the Weatherhead 100 rankings have showcased the fastest-growing companies in Northeast Ohio. The awards were conceived as a means to properly acknowledge, support and praise companies within the region that have exhibited stellar growth.

    Since the event’s inception 24 years ago, its top 100 list has become highly regarded throughout the region. That’s because to qualify, a firm must demonstrate consistent growth over the last five years. As the Weatherhead 100 website points out, being named to the list is a testament to WRIS Web Service’s “hard work, commitment, innovation and dream to succeed.”

    “We’re extremely proud of the fact that we’ve been singled out for a second year running,” says Charlie Meyers, president of WRIS Web Services. “Last year, we were recognized with Weatherhead’s 2010 Upstart Award, ranking number 16 on the basis of our 85.68 percent sales growth.
