X-Men Spinoff 'Deadpool' Will Return to Theaters in Winter 2016

Ryan Reynolds has waited a long time to play X-Men's Deadpool again. He played the hero in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and yet he had to wait. He played the Green Lantern to everyone's disappointment, and he was forced to wait longer. He watched wife Blake Lively create whatever the hell Preserve is (we still don't know). But his wait is finally over.

20th Century Fox announced today that they've given a solo film about the fatally charming assassin Wade Wilson the green light, setting a Feb. 12, 2016 release date. Reynolds is reportedly attached to the project – along with first-time director Tim Miller – but deals are not yet made, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Reynolds has been on the record as being interested in the character since 2003. If the studio goes in another direction after waiting for that long, he may never quite recover. So we hope the attachment becomes permanent soon. For his sake.
