Xi says China upholds cybersecurity

Xi says China embraces cybersecurity, warns that technology is a double-edged sword

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. (AP) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping says his country is 'firm in upholding cybersecurity" and cautions that technology is a "double edged-sword" that can drive progress but can impede governments.

The U.S. has complained about hacking from China of government and U.S. private-sector computer systems.

Xi spoke Friday night following the first meeting of a two-day summit with President Barack Obama at a desert estate in California.

Xi called for both sides to work on the issue of cybersecurity in a pragmatic way. He said China has also been a victim of cyberattacks, but did not specify who was behind them.
