Yahoo Finance announces winner of Warren Buffett childhood home Airbnb contest
Lynn Dann from Irvine, CA will get to stay in Warren Buffett's childhood home in Omaha, Nebraska during the annual Berkshire Hathaway Shareholder's Meeting. Airbnb chose Dann out of thousands of applicants based on her essay submission.

What are you most excited to experience in Omaha?
"My first trip to Omaha was two years ago on a company trip. We arrived in the middle of an ice storm but had a great time. This year, I am excited to share the sights of Omaha and the Berkshire Hathaway Meeting experience with my 18 year old son for the very first time. We are looking forward to wandering the Old Market area, sitting in a downtown restaurant for lunch and watching the people wander by (guessing which ones are locals and which ones are also Berkshire Hathaway attendees), plus my son is so excited about taking a walk over the bridge into Iowa. Having grown up on the West Coast, he has never experienced the ability to walk from one state to another in a matter of minutes. And, of course, we must have a FABULOUS steak dinner while in the home of Omaha Steaks. And, last but not least, there will be a “shop till you drop” (or until the suitcases are full) day taking advantage of the amazing Berkshire discounts at the Nebraska Furniture Mart before we have to head back home.
What are you most looking forward to at the Berkshire Hathaway Shareholders Meeting?
"After attending the meeting two years ago, I knew I had to bring my son to experience the weekend. Who could be better than Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger themselves to inspire him as he graduates from high school this year and looks forward to his future? I can’t wait for him to stand outside the convention center doors very early on the morning of the meeting and listen to the conversations around us about the great investors of our time from Benjamin Graham to Prem Watsa to John Bogle and others. Then, to rush inside with 40,000 others to hear the wisdom and style of Warren & Charlie for an entire day is an experience like no other. Plus, when you walk onto that convention hall exhibit floor for the first time, you truly are immersed in the success of Berkshire Hathaway as you wander the booths of the companies that they own. What an amazing inspiration for any young adult just starting out! To add the experience of staying in Warren Buffett’s childhood home and sleeping in his bedroom would certainly make it a once in a lifetime experience that would never be forgotten.
What’s your favorite Airbnb experience?
"As the parents of six kids, ages 12 – 29, (3 biological and 3 that joined our family almost 9 years ago after being removed from their biological parent’s home), we don’t get much opportunity to travel and when we do, it is a major undertaking with kids, spouses, boyfriends, girlfriends, etc. so we don’t go far but I do use the Airbnb website to dream and think about where we will go when is just the two of us and we are “empty nesters” (only 5 more years - I am counting down). I am so looking forward to actually getting to visit the “Sky Cabin” in Seattle or a Sundrenched studio in New York or maybe even an apartment in Trier, Germany, where I was an exchange student at the Universitat Trier over 30 years ago.
