Yahoo Finance review

Yahoo Finance will give you the tools you need to keep tabs on various stocks and the markets as a whole through real-time performance updates and news stories. You can customize your Home feed by adding stocks you want to follow, and you can use both performance reports and the News features to do some research on potential investments.

Pros

Nice interface and graphics: This app features a tabbed interface, with options at the bottom to move between the various sections. One of these sections is the Home feed, where you can add the stocks you want to follow, see their current value, and scroll through news stories about them. There is also a separate News section with stories about various financial topics, and a Markets section that lets you compare the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P 500, or view them each individually. Selecting an individual stock takes you to a page where you'll find information on that stock's performance over time, as well as stats about its current value, previous close, market cap, volume, and more.

Integrated sharing: You can share any news stories you find interesting straight from the app by posting to Facebook, Twitter, or Tumblr. You can also send a story via SMS or email, or you can open it in Safari if you'd rather read it there.

Cons

No portfolio features: There is no feature in this app that allows you to create or track your own portfolio. The only thing you can do is add the individual stocks to your feed, but that can become a bit tedious and inefficient. There is also not as much information about individual stocks in this program as there is on the Yahoo website.

Bottom Line

Yahoo Finance is a convenient, versatile, and free program to use. The addition of Portfolio features would be a good compliment to what the app already offers. But for what it is, it performs admirably.
