New York construction accident lawyer David Perecman comments on the scaffold collapse in Chelsea in which no one was injured or killed. The New York construction accident lawyers at The Perecman Firm have handled all types of construction accident cases over the past 30 years.
New York, New York (PRWEB) December 27, 2011
There were no reports of injuries as a result of the scaffold collapse, according to officials.
“It was extremely lucky no one was injured on the scaffold or on the ground,” said New York construction accident lawyer David Perecman, a construction accident lawyer in New York for over 30 years.
An investigation into the scaffold collapse was launched by the Department of Buildings, reported NY1.
A Bureau of Labor and Statistics (BLS) study reported that 72% of workers injured in scaffold accidents attributed the accident either to the planking or support giving way, or to the employee slipping or being struck by a falling object.
“Scaffold accidents can and must be avoided. Many scaffold related injuries can be completely avoided through effective safety measures, including training and prevention,” said New York construction accident lawyer Perecman.
To avoid a scaffold collapse in New York, construction accident lawyer Perecman explained, construction workers must use appropriate scaffold construction methods, make sure they do not overload a scaffold with people or equipment, and have a “competent person” check the scaffold, as required.
“Builders have paid significant penalties for failing to ensure that both construction workers are safe while working on scaffolds and pedestrians are safe while walking under them,” construction accident lawyer Perecman, the former head New York construction accident lawyer for the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, and a lecturer on construction accident law, said.
