Zayn Malik’s ‘Pillowtalk’ Tops One Direction‘s US Chart Record

In case you haven’t heard, Zayn Malik has achieved some amazing stuff with his first solo single, ‘Pillowtalk’, topping the charts both in the UK and over in the US.

Zayn’s track is just the 25th song to debut at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, putting him in some sort of chatting-topping squad with the likes of Adele and Elton John.

Pretty awesome, right?

Now, we’re definitely not here for Zayn’s solo career to start being compared to One Direction’s career, since we love them both equally and all that, but it’s been noted that his number one out in America has beaten the boys’ previous record.

The 1D boys’ highest-charting single in the US to date has been ‘Best Song Ever’, which reached an impressive number two on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart.

They’ve also reached the number three spot with ‘Live While We’re Young’ and ‘Drag Me Down’, while their first hit, ‘What Makes You Beautiful’, came in at number four.

All incredible achievements, if you ask us.

‘Pillowtalk’ is also the fastest song by a debut artist to reach number one on Spotify’s global chart, and has had the highest one-week sales of this year so far - 267,000 downloads, to be precise.

Zayn’s debut album, ‘Mind of Mine’, is released on March 25.
