Zurmo Open Source CRM Releases Social Conversations, Nominates Email to the Endangered Species List

The Open Source Customer Relationship Management project Zurmo announces the release of Social Conversations, the latest in a series of Social CRM functionality being added to the application in order to foster better internal communication at work. The organization is declaring that Email should be added to the Endangered Species List. Keep up to date with the roadmap, get involved, and learn more at Zurmo.org

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) August 23, 2012

The gamified, Open Source CRM project Zurmo announced today the release of Social Conversations, part of a series of social CRM functionality included in the project’s development roadmap.

The new feature enables simple communication between individuals (one-on-one), teams, or an entire organization. A Zurmo Conversation can be independent or relate directly to a record in the CRM such as an opportunity with which multiple sales people are collaborating.

“For an organization’s internal communication, email is an archaic form of communication. They slip through the cracks. There are too many people on the CC list. They waste our time. The idea behind Social Conversations is to keep internal communication easy and under a single environment. We are all about cutting back on minutia so people can actually get work done,” states Zurmo Founder Jason Green. “I wouldn’t say email is going to be extinct in the wild anytime soon. Companies should still be using it, especially for one-on-one communication with customers and anyone else external. But as we see CRM systems like Zurmo adopt alternative methods of communication, we should probably elevate email to the status of critically endangered,” continues Green.

Social Conversations are part of a whole series of Social CRM functionality currently being released. The Zurmo project is first focusing on the ‘internal’ aspect of Social CRM, an area which core project team members believe to be the most crucial, before directing development efforts to ‘external’ functionality such integrating Twitter and Facebook into the system.
