Legal experts anticipate Trump will 'drag out' trial

STORY: Trump's plea, entered before U.S. Magistrate Judge Jonathan Goodman in a federal court in Miami, sets up a legal battle likely to play out for months while he seeks to win back the presidency in a November 2024 election.

"I think he will file motions to suppress evidence. I think he will file motion after motion in order to try and drag this case out," said Constitutional Law Professor James Sample.

"The question is - are we going to find 12 impartial jurors that are going to follow the law, apply the facts? And if so, we may see a guilty verdict here," said Neama Rahmani, former federal prosecutor and president of West Coast Trial Lawyers.

Trump was allowed to leave court without conditions or travel restrictions and no cash bond was required. Goodman ruled that he was not allowed to communicate with potential witnesses in the case.
