Black Friday Tops Record for Single Day Gun Background Checks

Last Black Friday, a record number of individuals had their sights set on purchasing a gun. The FBI reported that it processed about two background checks per second on Black Friday, equating to a single day record total of 185,345 checks. The figure broke the previous record from December 21, 2012, which was approximately a week after the Sandy Hook Elementary mass shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.
