On Bakhmut front, Ukrainian fighters advanced by 1,200 metres in some areas
In some areas of the Bakhmut front, the Defence Forces of Ukraine pushed the Russians back by 1.2 kilometres over the last day (8 June).

Details: Cherevatyi said that the Defence Forces of Ukraine are trying to knock out the combat potential of the Russians as much as possible; they used to do it with the Wagner group and now with motorised rifles and airborne units of Russia.
The invaders are resisting, trying to cover the Ukrainian units with artillery fire. During this day, on the Bakhmut front, they hit the positions of the Armed Forces with tubed and rocket artillery 368 times; there were 15 combat clashes and five air raids. At the same time, 120 occupiers were killed there, 163 were wounded, and 11 were captured, Cherevatyi added.
In addition, three howitzers, a Nona mortar-artillery system, a Gvozdika self-propelled gun, a Rapira anti-tank gun, an anti-tank missile complex, a Grad anti-aircraft missile system, and three field ammunition depots were destroyed on the Bakhmut front.
On the Lyman and Kupiansk fronts, the Russians struck the positions of the Armed Forces 612 times; there were six combat clashes and six air raids. 72 occupiers were killed, 109 invaders were wounded, and two Russian armoured personnel carriers, three mortars, two Kornet anti-tank guided missile systems, a Rapira anti-tank gun, two field ammunition depots and two drones were destroyed.

Earlier, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that "heavy fighting for every square metre of land" was taking place on the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka fronts.
Western media quoted unnamed Ukrainian officials as saying that Ukraine had launched a long-awaited counteroffensive against Russia on its territory. A few days earlier, American officials had suggested that a counteroffensive had begun.
