President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has welcomed the adoption of a resolution by the European Parliament recognising Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism and has called for the Russian Federation to be isolated on all levels.

"I welcome the European Parliament’s decision to recognise Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism and as a state which uses means of terrorism. Russia must be isolated at all levels and held accountable in order to end its long-standing policy of terrorism in Ukraine and across the globe," Zelenskyy tweeted.

"Russia is a terrorist state: confirmed by the European Parliament. Russia has a history of acts of terror against sovereign states, support for terrorist regimes and organisations, including Wagner [a Russian paramilitary organization], and the war of terror against Ukraine. I thank the European Parliament and its president for their clear stance," Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba tweeted.
