$1.4M in stolen merch recovered from ‘cargo theft ring’ in Southern California

A special enforcement team (SET) recovered more than $1.4 million in stolen merchandise during a raid on a warehouse in an unincorporated area of Perris in Riverside County last week.

The Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station’s SET team issued a search warrant at the warehouse known as Good Hope in the 24000 block of Highway 74 on May 9 at around 8 p.m.

“Over 160 pallets of stolen merchandise, ranging from food products to industrial-grade tools, were seized during the service of the search warrant…The recovered stolen property was valued at over 1.4 million dollars,” the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department stated in a news release.

The SET team had been investigating what was described as an “organized retail crime and trailer cargo theft ring” since February, according to the release.

A truck driver identified as 34-year-old Rajdeep Singh was detained and arrested for possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia during the search of the warehouse.

Any further involvement in the operation regarding Singh was still under investigation, the Sheriff’s Department said.

Authorities are also still working to identify any additional suspects.
