January 6th Committee Chair Representative Bennie Thompson, a Democrat from Mississippi, said that today's hearing could include a vote on further investigative action. This is the final January 6th investigative hearing that first began a few months ago to investigate what occurred on that fateful January 6th day where an insurrection occurred at the Capitol. President Trump and his allies have continued to perpetuate the “Big Lie” that the 2020 election was stolen through voter fraud. This claim has been proven false on multiple occasions. On the committee is only two Republicans, Representative Liz Cheney of Wyoming, and Representative Adam Kinzinger of Illinois.

THOMPSON: “There's one more difference about today, pursuant to the notice circulated prior to today's proceedings, we are convened today not as a hearing, but as a formal committee business meeting. So that in addition to presenting evidence, we can potentially hold a committee vote on further investigative action based upon that evidence.”
