1 arrested after allegedly striking BPD cruiser with vehicle

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — One person was arrested after allegedly striking an occupied police cruiser with a vehicle in south Bakersfield.

A spokesperson with the Bakersfield Police Department said investigators found an occupied vehicle in the area of Hughes Lane and Dayton Avenue Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators attempted to take the person inside the vehicle into custody, according to BPD. The suspect allegedly resisted arrest, entered the stolen vehicle and struck an occupied police cruiser.

The suspect fled the scene and collided with a fence, police said. The suspect then continued to run away from the scene.

Police did not identify the suspect but was ultimately taken into custody.

No other suspects are believed to be outstanding.
