Man critically hurt in Salt Lake City shooting; police searching for suspects

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Authorities are searching for suspects after a shooting Monday night in Salt Lake City left a man fighting for his life.

The Salt Lake Police Department says the shooting happened around 6:40 p.m. near the intersection of 1400 South and 1200 West, in the city’s Glendale neighborhood. What led up to the shooting remains unknown.

Responding officers found a wounded man on the sidewalk. Emergency crews brought the man to a hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

Witnesses told officers that the shooter and an unknown number of people fled the area, police said.

Officers initially detained one person near the scene, but officers later determined they were not involved in the shooting.

The department’s K-9 Squad was tapped to help search for suspects, and the area was put under lockdown.

While the lockdown has since been lifted, some roads in the area remained closed as crews investigate.
