Police: Man in custody after standoff in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A man is in custody after an early Saturday morning standoff in Grand Rapids.

Around 2:10 a.m., officers with the Grand Rapids Police Department were sent to the area of Lafayette Street SE and Highland Street SE.

It began as a domestic situation, according to GRPD. Police said one person inside the home had minor injuries, and a man was refusing to surrender. There were other people inside the home as well.

A tactical team was called to the home. The standoff lasted for about four hours, police said.

The man eventually surrendered and was taken into custody, according to GRPD. His name has not been released.

The case remains under investigation.
