1 dead, 11 wounded, including a 4-year-old boy in shootings as Labor Day weekend begins

A man was fatally wounded, and at least 11 were injured, including a 4-year-old boy in shootings since 9 p.m. Friday , Chicago police said.

The fatal attack involved two family members who were attending a party at a residence in the Jeffery Manor neighborhood. In that shooting a weapon was recovered at the scene, and the family member was in police custody while detectives continue to investigate, police said.

The latest overnight shooting happened about 5:20 a.m. Saturday on the West Side in the 3600 block of West Augusta Boulevard in the Humboldt Park neighborhood, police said.

The victim, 28, was shot in the abdomen during an argument involving a group of people. An occupant of a vehicle pulled out a weapon and fired in the groups direction, striking the victim. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where his condition was stabilized, police said.
