1 dead, 3 injured in early morning shooting, Sacramento Police say

Four men were shot early Monday morning in Sacramento, one of them dying at the scene and the rest taken to hospitals with injuries, police said.

Officers responded to reports of shots fired around 1 a.m. on Helena Avenue, just south of Del Paso Boulevard in the city’s South Hagginwood neighborhood, the Sacramento Police Department said in a news release.

Police found four adult male shooting victims, one of whom was unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene by fire personnel, according to the news release.

The three other victims were taken to local hospitals and are all expected to survive, the Police Department said.

No arrests have been made. Homicide detectives are investigating the scene, canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses and evidence, police say.

The deceased victim will be identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office pending notification of family.
