Update on Rehoboth Beach hotel shooting that left 1 dead, 1 hospitalized on Sunday

A 28-year-old man is dead and a 23-year-old woman is on life support after a shooting in Rehoboth Beach on Sunday.

Police responded to "a hotel on Christian Street" around 12:20 p.m. for a report of a possible dead body in one of the rooms. The caller reported the incident appeared to be a suicide, according to Rehoboth Beach Police spokesperson Jamie Riddle.

Two victims had sustained gunshot wounds to the head, according to police. The man was dead, but the woman breathing and unconscious. She was taken to a hospital, where she remains on life support, according to Riddle.

Two 9 mm handguns were found, one next to each victim, Riddle said.

Police are not seeking other suspects in the investigation at this time and there are no current threats to public safety, according to Riddle.
