1 dead after crash involving school bus in Butler County

One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash involving a school bus in Butler County Monday morning.

According to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the crash in the area of Millikin Road and Fieldstone Farms Boulevard in Liberty Township around 10:45 a.m.

The sheriff’s office says a black 2019 Chevrolet Cruze was eastbound on Millikin Road when it crossed the double yellow lane divider and struck a westbound school bus head-on.

The Lakota School District bus was reported as being empty and was only occupied by the driver, the sheriff’s office said.

The bus driver did not report any injuries at the scene.

The driver of the Chevrolet Cruze, identified as 61-year-old Debra A. Halsey, of Forest Park, Ohio was pronounced deceased at the scene.

It is unclear at this time as to why or what caused the Chevrolet Cruze to cross into the path of the school bus, according to the sheriff’s office.

The crash is still under investigation at this time.
