A 36-year-old man died after crashing on northbound State Road 417 near Aloma Avenue in an accident that caused the roadway to be closed early Sunday, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The man was driving a blue Toyota Camry at a high rate of speed when he lost control and left the roadway, striking a guardrail just before 3 a.m. Sunday, FHP said.

He died at the scene, FHP said.

The roadway was closed during the investigation but was reopened at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, FHP said.

The crash remains under investigation.
