1 dead in fatal crash in Ukrainian Village

An unidentified man was pronounced dead following a two-car crash Saturday morning in the Ukrainian Village, Chicago police said.

According to police, a 23-year-old man was driving about 3:30 a.m. in the 2000 block of West Augusta Boulevard, when he struck a 2016 Toyota, which was eastbound on Augusta. The victim who was driving the Toyota, was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Mazda, suffered a dislocated hip, and also was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in fair condition. Preliminary information indicated the driver of the Mazda may have gone through a red light.

Charges or citations may be pending, police said.

The deceased driver has not yet been identified.
