1 dead, several injured in multi-vehicle crash in George

One person is dead and several others are injured after a crash involving a bus, a pickup truck, and a car Friday morning in the city of George, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office announced.

According to the sheriff’s office, around 6 a.m., the driver of a full-size passenger bus was heading north on Adams Road when they attempted to turn west onto South Frontage Road East.

The driver turned into the path of a southbound 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by a 43-year-old George resident.

The vehicles crashed, causing the pickup to collide with a 2003 Acura MDX that was stopped at the stop sign located at the intersection of South Frontage Road East and Adams Road.

The driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene.

There were 26 adult passengers riding the bus. One was flown to an out-of-area hospital, while several others were taken to nearby hospitals to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The passenger in the pickup truck was taken to Quincy Valley Medical Center and later transferred to Confluence Health/Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee to treat serious injuries.

The driver of the Acura MDX was also taken to Quincy Valley, where he was later released.

The crash is under investigation by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office Motor Traffic Unit.
