One person died and several others were injured in a shooting at an Oakland gas station Monday.
The incident, which marks the third mass shooting in California this month, occurred near the Valero gas station on MacArthur Boulevard during the filming of a music video.
The gunfire erupted at around 6 p.m. Police initially said there were eight victims, including the person who died, but noted that three people were also injured in a car accident as they fled the scene, according to AP News.
An estimated 40 to 50 people were at the scene to record the music video.

The gunfire “broke out from multiple shooters in various directions,” acting Police Chief Darren Allison told reporters.
Casings found at the scene varied from semi-automatic handguns to rifles.
The deceased has been identified as 18-year-old Mario Navarro.

The rest of the victims are reportedly aged 15 to 63.
“I’m heartbroken right now,” Navarro’s cousin, Olga Navarro, told KTVU. “He was really sweet. He kind of liked music. He was really good.”
Authorities believe the incident was gang-related.

Mayor Sheng Thao noted it as the state’s third mass shooting after Monterey Park and Half Moon Bay, with the latter occurring just hours prior.
“This problem isn't unique to our state but it is unique to our nation,” Thao said of gun violence. “This has to end, it must end.”
In the wake of the shootings, Vice President Kamala Harris is set to visit Monterey Park on Wednesday.

“Our hearts are with the people of California,” President Joe Biden said at a meeting with Democratic leaders. “The vice president’s going to be going out. I’ve been talking with Gavin Newsom and Judy Chu and Anna Eshoo and Hilda Solis, and we’re working out a number of things that we can and are going to be doing.”
