1 dead after wrong-way driver collision on I-4 on Sunday, FHP says

A 27-year-old woman was killed after a wrong-way driver crashed into her on Interstate 4 on Sunday morning, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The woman was driving in the westbound lanes of I-4 around 2 a.m. Sunday when a 36-year-old man, driving the wrong way, collided head-on with her 2008 Volkswagen EOS and caused the two cars to also crash into a third car with a male driver, FHP said.

The 36-year-old man was transported to Orlando Regional Medical with serious but non-life-threatening injuries while the woman was admitted to the hospital and died, according to FHP.

The third car’s driver, a 27-year-old man, did not sustain any injuries and remained at the scene, FHP said.

The crash remains under investigation.
