1 displaced from Cass Twp. blaze; cause of fire unknown

Oct. 19—HECKSCHERVILLE — The cause of a Cass Twp. fire that destroyed a trailer property Wednesday has yet to be determined.

Heckscherville Fire Chief James Quinn said the fire displaced one resident from the home at 364 Valley Road.

Quinn said the resident, whose name was not provided, was not home during the incident and that nobody was injured.

Firefighters have not been able to reach out to the property owner, Quinn said, and the matter has been referred to Cass Twp. Fire Marshall John Kellman.

Quinn said the property was uninsured and was ruled a total loss.

"There's not much that can be done," he said.

The fire, which was reported by two passersby around 4:50 p.m., drew a response from several departments, including from Minersville, Newtown and Forestville.

Quinn said he declared the fire under control at 5:50 p.m. Wednesday. A portion of Valley Road west of Heckscherville was blocked off while firemen battled the blaze.

Patty Daley, disaster captain of the Pennsylvania Rivers Chapter of the American Red Cross, said her group had not been asked as of Wednesday evening to provide assistance to the resident.
