Muskegon Heights PD: Man drove to police station after being shot

MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. (WOOD) — A man drove himself to the Muskegon Heights police station after being shot early Monday, police say.

Shortly after 2 a.m., the 47-year-old man arrived at the police station on Baker Street at E. Manahan Avenue.

He told investigators that he was driving on Leahy Street near Sherman Boulevard — only a few blocks from the police station — when a man came up to the passenger’s side of his car. The man pointed a gun in the car and fired one shot, which hit the driver in the right hip. He drove away.

Police summoned an ambulance to the station and the man was taken to the hospital, where he was listed in stable condition as of Monday afternoon.
