23-year-old man shot and killed at Hickory car wash identified by police

HICKORY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A 23-year-old man is dead and a 19-year-old remains in the hospital with serious injuries following a shooting Tuesday outside a car wash, police said.

According to Hickory Police, Dalton James Flynn, 23, and Nicholas Huffman, 19, both of Vale, got into an altercation at the Mountain View Car Wash on N.C. Hwy 127 S. around 7 p.m.

Both Flynn and Huffman were shot during the fight, authorities said.

As officers arrived at the crime scene, they found Flynn seriously injured. He was rushed to Frye Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

Hickory Police said 19-year-old Huffman had fled the scene in a white Audi and was located minutes later by the Brookford Police Department. Huffman, injured from the shooting, was taken to Catawba Valley Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.

No charges have been filed as of Wednesday, April 3, authorities said.
