1 killed, driver charged with DUI in Lincoln crash

A 22-year-old Massachusetts man died after a car he was riding in crashed on Route 146 early Saturday morning, and the driver is facing DUI charges, the state police said.

The driver, Christopher Vincent, 25, of Watertown, Massachusetts, was traveling north on Route 146 at around 2:30 a.m. when he lost control of his vehicle north of Route 116 in Lincoln and struck the attenuator head-on, according to a news release by Cpl. Michael Doherty. Rhode Island State Police and members of the Lincoln Fire and Rescue unit responded to the scene.

Police said the front-seat passenger, William Molloy, 22, of Ashland, Massachusetts, died of his injuries. Vincent and an unidentified rear-seat passenger were taken to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries.

Vincent was charged with driving under the influence of liquor or drugs, death resulting; driving under the influence of liquor or drugs, serious bodily injury; driving to endanger, death resulting; and driving to endanger, resulting in personal injury, state police said.
